News Paper Mill’s West Side Story Opens Tonight The classic American musical continues at the New Jersey venue through June 26.

The Paper Mill Playhouse production of Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim's West Side Story officially opens at the New Jersey venue June 5 at 7 PM following previews that began June 1. Performances continue through June 26.

Jerome Robbins’ original choreography is recreated by Alex Sanchez. Mark S. Hoebee directs.

Leading the company are Matt Doyle as Tony, Belinda Allyn as Maria, Natalie Cortez as Anita, German Alexander as Bernardo and Mikey Winslow as Riff.

These artists are joined by Maria Briggs (Anybodys), Michael Bullard (Big Deal), Spencer Clark (Gee-Tar), John Michael Fiumara (Diesel), Kevin C. Loomis (Krupke), Dean Andre de Luna (Chino), William Ragsdale (Schrank), Jay Russell (Doc), Parker Slaybaugh (Baby John), Jack Sippel (A-Rab), Brendan Stimson (Snowboy) , Craig Waletzko (Glad Hand) and Cody Williams (Action) .

Rounding out the ensemble are Danny Bevins, Victoria Casillo, Damian Chambers, Philip Colgan, Brittany Conigatti, Lauren Csete, Tenealle Farragher, Lisa Finegold, Jordan Isadore, Ilda Mason, Kat Nejat, Kevin Michael Raponey, Adam Rogers, Alexia Sky, Summerisa Bell Stevens, Jayme Wappel and James Allen Washington.

West Side Story is described by Paper Mill as “the stunning, groundbreaking and legendary musical that set the bar for all musical theatre. Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is transported to 1950s New York City as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.”

The production also has music direction by Steve Orich, scenic design by James Youmans, lighting design by Charlie Morrison, costume design by David C. Woolard, scenic coordination by Kelly Tighe, costume coordination by Dana Burkart, sound design by Randy Hansen, hair, wig and make-up design by Amanda Miller and casting by Telsey + Company. The production stage manager is Andrea Cibelli.
