As previously reported, President Donald J. Trump’s administration is prepared to enact a drastic budget plan that will reduce federal spending by $10.5 trillion over the next decade. The National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities are among the programs that the administration may cut entirely, according to published reports.

In the wake of this news, an official petition has been created at WhiteHouse.gov, to preserve the institutions that were founded in 1965 to nurture “constant dedication and devotion” to the arts and humanities across the U.S.
The petition reads: “The Arts and Humanities are a vital part of our cultural identity and enhance the quality of our lives. They connect us to the past, they speak to us in the present, and they are our legacy, our gift to the future. Investing in them is never a waste, and I strongly urge that both the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities continue to receive federal funding.”
