Mia Chung’s Catch as Catch Can will now open its Off-Broadway run at Playwrights Horizons November 9. The show recently cancelled performances October 26 due to a positive COVID case during previews, which began October 14. The run is set through November 20.

Double-cast across gender, generation, and race in the family drama set in a blue-collar New England town, Catch as Catch Can follows two families—the Irish-American Phelans and the Italian-American Lavecchias—as the prodigal son returns home for a holiday gathering. Two off-stage characters, who are Korean and Korean-American, impact the families as they face the weight of generational expectations.

Starring are Cindy Cheung (Log Cabin, The Great Immensity) as father Lon Lavecchia and daughter Daniela, Jon Norman Schneider (Awake and Sing!, The Oldest Boy) as mother Roberta Lavecchia and son Robbie, and Rob Yang (Succession, American Rust) as mother Theresa Phelan and son Tim.

Daniel Aukin directs the production, which features scenic design by Matt Saunders, costume design by Enver Chakartash, lighting design by Marika Kent, and sound design by Bray Poor. Genevieve Ortiz serves as production stage manager, with Zach Brecheen as assistant stage manager and Eva Shannon-Dabek as stage management fellow.

The production will also be holding the following accessible performances: a relaxed performance at 2 PM November 6, ASL-interpretation at 7:30 PM November 15, audio description and touch tour 7:30 PM November 17, and closed captioning November 1-20. Assistive listening devices are available for every performance.
