Fox-TV's special October 20 broadcast of The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again earned an average household overnight rating of 3.4/5 for the 8-10 PM time slot, according to ProgrammingInsider.com.

The ratings for the TV movie were 54 percent below the network’s January 31, 2016, live Broadway musical-style production, Grease: Live, which drew a 7.4/11 average rating. Ratings also declined 26 percent from the first hour to the last.

Reasons for the ratings dip could be twofold. Unlike other rating’s blockbusters, Rocky Horror was pre-taped, and not broadcast as a live television event. It also competed with Thursday Night Football on CBS and the National League Championship series on Fox sports.

On the up side for the network, the ratings represented an increase over the network’s regularly scheduled programming for that time slot, Rosewood and Pitch, which had earned an average 2.3/4 for the same evening the previous week.

Overnight ratings are often revised as more data comes in over the subsequent few days.
