As reported by Deadline, the project is being helmed by Dominic Cooke, the former artistic director of London's Royal Court Theatre, and is being produced by Number 9 Films, the company behind "Carol." Ronan will play Florence in the movie adaptation; McEwan's story follows a pair of young lovers on their honeymoon in 1962. It is the latest in a string of new projects for the stage and screen actress, including a starring role in Greta Gerwig's upcoming directorial debut, "Lady Bird."
Ronan was nominated for a Golden Globe and Academy Award at 14 years old for her performance in "Atonement" alongside Keira Knightley. She will play Abigail Williams in The Crucible, which begins previews March 31.
