Apple TV+'s Emmy-winning musical theatre series Schmigadoon! is headed to the stage. Featuring a book, music, and lyrics by series creator Cinco Paul, the work will get a world premiere staging at Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center in 2025, with performances running January 31-February 9 in the Eisenhower Theater. Christopher Gattelli, who choreographed both seasons of the series, will direct and choreograph the stage musical.

Press notes indicate the musical will follow the plot of the show's first season, which saw a couple, struggling to save their relationship, who suddenly find themselves in Schmigadoon, a magical world populated with characters, plots, songs, and dance numbers inspired by Golden Age musicals like Oklahoma! The Music Man, and Carousel. Press notes indicate audiences can expect to hear Paul's songs from the series—including the Emmy-winning "Corn Puddin'," plus new tunes. The production is being presented by special arrangement with Lorne Michaels' Broadway Video, which produced the series.

The series premiered on Apple TV+ in 2021, with a second season in 2023 that sent its characters to Schmicago, complete with parodies of '70s musicals like PippinGodspell, and Sweeney Todd. Read Playbill's exhaustive recaps of all first and second season episodes for a deep dive into the series' many musical theatre Easter eggs, references, and parodies.

The premiere is part of Kennedy Center's newly announced 2024-2025 Broadway Center Stage season, which will also include a new staging of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, playing the Eisenhower Theater October 11-20; and Legally Blonde The Musical, to be directed by Matt DiCarlo and running June 6-15, 2025, also in the Eisenhower.

Scarlett Johansson's incendiary casting in the 2017 film Ghost in the Shell will be in the spotlight in Chris Grace: As Scarlett Johansson, described in press notes as a celebration of "the life of the greatest Asian-American actor of all time: Scarlett Johansson." Performances will run July 11-13, 2025, in the Family Theater.

Also newly announced for the venue is a post-Broadway engagement for Manhattan Theatre Club's Eureka Day, running March 4-22, 2025; and touring engagements of Clue& JulietLife of PiLes MisérablesParade, and The Sound of Music, among other titles.
