The RSC has announced its new season at Stratford on Avon, with a line-up of six new Shakespeare productions, plus others by Ibsen and Fletcher.
The flagship production, ironically, isn't a Shakespeare: it's Adrian Noble's final play as Artistic Director, Ibsen's Brand starring Ralph Fiennes. It plays at Stratford before leaving (with Noble) for London, where it will be staged at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket.
Other leading actors who will form a part of the season are Henry Goodman, Jasper Britton, Alexandra Gilbreath and Emma Fielding.
Gregory Doran continues his fascination with Jacobean playwrights when he pairs Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew with John Fletcher's rarely performed sequel, The Tamer Tamed.
The overall line-up of productions is as follows:
Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon
The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare (Director: Gregory Doran)
Measure for Measure by William Shakespeare (Director: Sean Holmes)
Richard III by William Shakespeare (Director: Sean Holmes)
Titus Andronicus by William Shakespeare (Director: Bill Alexander)
Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon
As You Like It by William Shakespeare (Director: Gregory Thompson)
The Tamer Tamed by John Fletcher (Director: Gregory Doran)
Brand by Henrik Ibsen (Director: Adrian Noble)
Cymbeline by William Shakespeare (Director: Dominic Cooke)
