The Broadway Sitzprobe Experience: Guys and Dolls live streams January 29 at 6 PM ET via Stars in the House, the award-winning streaming variety show co-hosted by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley Jackson.
Presented by Rudetsky in partnership with MUSE, the evening (which will be available for viewing in the video above) will feature selections from Guys and Dolls performed by an orchestra and ensemble of MUSE and Maestra members with Broadway stars as the leads. Rudetsky, Wesley Jackson, and Dr. Jon LaPook host.
This Guys and Dolls sitzprobe—the rehearsal when a musical's cast sing through the score for the first time with an orchestra—will be conducted by David Chase, who was one of the conductors of the musical's 1992 revival. This educational workshop will also feature the talents of Tony winner Santino Fontana as Sky Masterson; Carlos Lopez, a dancer in the 1992 revival, as Nathan Detroit; Jelani Remy as Nicely-Nicely Johnson; Tony winner Len Cariou as Arvide Abernathy; Christine Pedi, Donna Vivino, and Lorna Luft, who starred in the revival's tour, as Miss Adelaide; Ali Ewoldt and Josie de Guzman as Sarah Brown (de Guzman played that role in the 1992 revival).
This workshop is an educational master class for the orchestra and considered an open rehearsal. The purpose is to give new orchestral players the experience they need so they can be hired for Broadway productions.
