Married musical duo The Bengsons, comprising Abigail and Shaun Bengson, will be the live musical soundtrack of Broadway's upcoming All In: Comedy About Love by Simon Rich. The pair will perform songs live on stage from The Magnetic Fields (composed by Stephin Merritt), including songs from the album 69 Love Songs, which Rich says inspired the stories that serve as the play's script.
"69 Love Songs by the Magnetic Fields directly inspired me to write the love stories that became All In," says Rich in a statement. "Stephin Merritt is my favorite living songwriter, and he’s probably better than all the dead ones I like, too."
Directed by Alex Timbers, All In is set to be performed by a rotating roster of theatre and comedy favorites over its 10-week limited engagement. Performances will begin December 11 at the Hudson Theatre.
Performances will feature a rotating group of four. The first five weeks will be led by John Mulaney along with Fred Armisen, Renée Elise Goldsberry (through December 30), and Richard Kind. Chloe Fineman will join January 2, 2025, and perform through January 12. Additional casting, by Taylor Williams, is to be announced.
The work comprises stories about dating, heartbreak, and marriage, all adapted from short stories that were published in The New Yorker, whose cartoonish Emily Flake will be creating illustrations for the production as well.
The production will feature scenic design by David Korins, lighting design by Jake DeGroot, costume design by Jennifer Moeller, sound design by Peter Hylenski, and projection design by Lucy MacKinnon. Kris Kukul will serve as music director.
Seaview and Lorne Michaels are producing with New Yorker Studios. Micah Frank and Caroline Maroney are producing for Michaels' Broadway Video, with Wagner Johnson Productions serving as general manager.
Tickets will go on sale September 26 at 10 AM ET, with a fan pre-sale beginning September 25 at 10 AM ET with registration at AllInBroadway.com.
