Atlanta, GA once again hosted the annual Junior Theater Festival, Jan. 18-20. Co-presented by iTheatrics and Atlanta's Theater of the Stars, this event brings together some 4,000 school-age theatre enthusiasts from 23 states across the U.S. Playbill staff writer Adam Hetrick, who has attended the Festival for the past three years, leads us on a video tour of the festivities that included youngsters performing for Broadway luminaries like director Jeff Calhoun, the debut of new Broadway Junior shows (Xanadu Jr. and Hairspray Jr.) and a performance from Newsies. Tony, Grammy and Academy Award winner Alan Menken was given a special award and graced with an even more special tribute performance.
