Film & TV News Watch Beverley Bass Watch Rachel Tucker Perform Come From Away's 'Me and the Sky' on The Tamron Hall Show

Also, Tucker's fellow Come From Away co-star, Joel Hatch, recently welcomed audiences back to Broadway with a heartfelt curtain call speech.

Olivier nominee Rachel Tucker, who portrays Captain Beverley Bass in the Tony-nominated Broadway musical Come From Away, recently appeared on The Tamron Hall Show to perform her showstopper from the hit musical, "Me and the Sky."

The broadcast, dedicated to "firsts," also featured an interview with Bass, the first female captain to fly for American Airlines. Olivier nominee Tucker spoke about her own place in the history books, the first female from Belfast to perform on Broadway (in Sting's The Last Ship). Watch the interviews and performance, which brought host Hall to tears, above.

Tucker's co-star, original cast member Joel Hatch—who plays Mayor Claude Elliott in the hit musical—made a brief speech of his own after the January 7 performance at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, which followed several canceled performances due to the coronavirus. Watch Hatch's heartfelt remarks below.

Come From Away, which resumed performances at the Schoenfeld September 21, tells the true story of 7,000 stranded air passengers during the wake of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. The ensemble cast take on a variety of roles, from travelers to locals to airline personnel.

The show features music, lyrics, and a book by Irene Sankoff and David Hein with direction by Tony winner Christopher Ashley, choreography by Olivier winner Kelly Devine, music supervision and arrangements by Ian Eisendrath, scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Gareth Owen, orchestrations by August Eriksmoen, and casting by Rachel Hoffman of The Telsey Office.

The film capture of Come From Away began streaming on Apple TV+ beginning September 10, while a free, in-person concert staging of the musical was presented in front of the Lincoln Memorial that same day.
