This one looks like a tearjerker.
Based on true events, the new A24 film Sing Sing stars Colman Domingo as a falsely imprisoned man who joins a theatre group with other incarcerated men at Sing Sing, a maximum security prison in New York State. Watch the first trailer for the film, due to hit theatres in July, in the video above.
Sing Sing is directed by Greg Kwedar, who co-wrote the screenplay with Clint Bentley. In addition to Domingo, the film also stars actor Paul Raci as the theatre troupe's director, alongside Clarence "Divine Eye" Maclin and Sean San Jose, two formerly incarcerated men and alumni of the Rehabilitation Through the Arts program.
Domingo is a two-time Tony nominee, one for producer on Fat Ham and one for his performance in the 2010 musical The Scottsboro Boys. He's currently an Oscar nominee for his work in Rustin and appeared in the film musical The Color Purple.
