Rob Madge's autobiographical show My Son's a Queer, (But What Can You Do?) has announced an extension of its return West End engagement. The solo work, currently playing the Ambassadors Theatre, will now run through April 1.

In honor of the production's Olivier Award nomination for Best Entertainment or Comedy, the show has also announced "Queer Hero Thursdays," a new event series where LGBTQ+ icons will join Madge following Thursday matinee performances for special talkbacks.

The series will begin March 9 with West End star Cherrelle Skeete, who originated the role of Rose Granger-Weasley in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and will be followed up March 16 with Dominic Skinner, a celebrated makeup artist and judge on the BBC show Glow Up. Additional participants will be announced at a later date.

Beginning with Madge (Oliver!, Les Misérables) at age 12 as they attempt to create a full-scale Disney parade in their house for their grandmother, My Son's a Queer tells the story of raising a queer child with all of its joys and chaos. The work originally premiered at Off-West End's The Turbine Theatre in 2021 where it sold out, subsequently transferring to Edinburgh Fringe for another sold-out run before its West End premiere at the Garrick Theatre. The Ambassador Theatre run commenced January 25.

Director Luke Sheppard (& Juliet, In the Heights) returns to the show along with composer Pippa Cleary (The Great British Bake Off Musical, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Age 13 ¾). Also reprising their places on the creative team are set and costume designer Ryan Dawson Laight, video designer by George Reeve, and orchestrator Simon Nathan. Joining the team will be lighting designer Jai Morjaria and sound designer Tingying Dong.

The show is produced by Bill Kenwright and Paul Taylor-Mills.
