The upcoming Wicked films have reportedly found their Wonderful Wizard of Oz—and, surprisingly, it's not James Corden. According to Variety, film star and Broadway alum Jeff Goldblum is in final talks to take on the role in the two-part film adaptation of the Broadway musical, currently set to release December 25 of 2024 and 2025, with In the Heights screen director Chu at the helm.

Goldblum would join a previously announced cast led by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as Glinda and Elphaba, respectively, along with Olivier winner and Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero.

Best known for his screen performances in Jurassic ParkThe Fly, and Independence Day, among others, Goldblum is no stranger to the stage, having appeared on Broadway in the musicals Two Gentlemen of Verona and The Moony Shapiro Songbook, along with plays The Pillowman and Seminar.

The two-part Wicked film adaptation, which will include new songs by Stephen Schwartz, will feature a screenplay by stage book writer Winnie Holzman, with Tony winner Paul Tazewell designing the costumes.
