AVL Board Operator & Offstage Emcee
We are a premier dance convention and competition company known for producing high-energy events across the country. Our mission is to provide dancers with unforgettable experiences, top-tier education, and a platform to showcase their talent. We are looking for a dynamic, experienced AVL (Audio-Visual-Lighting) Board Operator and Offstage Emcee to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, proficiency in QLab, and a passion for creating seamless, high-quality live event productions.
As the AVL Board Operator & Offstage Emcee, you will be responsible for operating and programming all audio, video, and lighting cues for our dance conventions and competitions. This includes managing all technical aspects of the event, ensuring that every performance runs smoothly and according to schedule. Additionally, you will serve as the offstage emcee, helping to engage the audience, introduce performers, and create a high-energy atmosphere throughout the event.
Key Responsibilities:
-AVL Board Operation:
- Operate and manage audio, video, and lighting systems during conventions and competitions.
- Program and execute cues using QLab for seamless transitions and high-quality production.
- Set up and test all AVL equipment before events, ensuring all systems are working properly.
- Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively during live events.
- Ensure all sound, lighting, and video elements align with the choreography and overall event flow.
-Offstage Emcee Duties:
- Announce performers, provide event updates, and interact with the audience to maintain energy and excitement throughout the event.
- Work closely with the stage managers, judges, and other event staff to ensure smooth transitions between performances and awards ceremonies.
- Help guide attendees through the event schedule and any other important announcements.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an AVL Board Operator, particularly with QLab for audio, video, and lighting programming.
- Experience working in live event production, preferably in dance conventions, competitions, or similar environments.
- Strong understanding of lighting, sound, and video systems, with the ability to troubleshoot issues during live events.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and perform well under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage an audience.
- A passion for the performing arts and a high-energy, professional demeanor.
Additional Requirements:
- Availability to travel for events across the country.

1/9-1/12, 1/16-1/19, 1/23-1/26, 1/30-2/2, 2/13-2/16, 2/20-2/23, 2/27-3/2, 3/6-3/9, 3/13-3/16, 3/20-23, 3/27-3/30, 4/3-4/6, 4/1/-4/13, 4/24-4/27, 5/8-5/11
- Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude under pressure.
