SISTER ACT

SEEKING:

DELORIS VAN CARTIER - (25-35, Black) An aspiring performer, trying to find both fame and a place in the world. After witnessing a murder, she is forced into witness protection at a convent. She is reluctant to embrace her new surroundings but finds joy when working with the convent choir. She is bold and ultimately caring. Vocal Range: E3 – F#5

MOTHER SUPERIOR – (50-70) The head of the convent, sarcastic, and rigid. Extremely protective
about keeping her sisters away from the outside world, which puts her in direct opposition to Deloris and her musical teachings. Vocal Range: D3 – E5

SISTER MARY ROBERT – (20s) A postulant, abandoned as a baby and raised at the convent. Shy
and soft-spoken but singing with Deloris lets her find her voice. Her wallflower lifestyle has made her live a shell of a life. Vocal Range: F#3 – A5

CURTIS JACKSON – (30-40, Black) A night club owner, notorious gangster, and Deloris’ boyfriend.
Cocky and controlling, always on the verge of violence. Vocal Range: A2 – Ab4

EDDIE SOUTHER – (25-35, Black) The desk chief at the Philadelphia police station and a high school classmate of Deloris who helps get her into hiding. Faces a lot of nerves when under pressure,
causing him to sweat profusely. He still has feelings for Deloris after all these years, and dreams of being a hero. Vocal Range: Ab2 – B4

SISTER MARY PATRICK – (35-50) A nun of the convent. Consistently perky, enthusiastic, and easily excitable.

SISTER MARY LAZARUS – (50-70) A nun of the convent and head of the choir. Rather deadpan and the least welcoming of the nuns, but she gets caught up in Deloris’ music. Vocal Range: F3 – B4

ENSEMBLE ROLES - The roles of Monsignor O'Hara, Ernie, TJ, Joey, Pablo, Sister Mary Martin-of-Tours, Sister Mary Theresa, Michelle, Tina, and others will be auditioned during the Equity Chorus Call and callbacks.
