Scenic Carpenter

Position Summary
Reporting to the Technical Director, this seasonal position is responsible for the construction, load in, maintenance, and strike of scenic elements required for a production.
Responsibilities
Woodworking
Metalworking, (MIG welding capability a plus)
Fabrication and assembly of scenic elements
Installation, repair and strike of scenery
May occasionally be asked to be part of an event or production’s run crew, where applicable
Other reasonable duties as assigned
Skills and Competencies
1-3 years experience with theatrical carpentry and construction
Knowledge of theatrical rigging
Ability to read hand-drafted and CAD illustrated technical drawings
Willingness to adhere to deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to follow scene shop safety protocols per industry safety standards
Comfortable working at heights, including loading weight from a fly loft
Must be comfortable working in bucket and scissor lifts
Ability to climb and work from ladders
Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally
Compensation
This is a seasonal, nonexempt position earning $19.00 per hour for 30-40 hours per week for the duration of the engagement, in addition to 401k, Medical and Vision insurance plans, and paid sick time and 3 floating holidays.
