The John Golden opened in 1926, designed by architect Harrison G. Wiseman. The theatre showcased Eugene O’Neill’s 1928 production of Strange Interlude, starring Lynn Fontanne. The John Golden Theatre, then known as the Elysee, was demolished in 1985.
