Bob Saget

Actor and comedian Bob Saget has died at age 65. His death was confirmed by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office when Mr. Saget was found unresponsive in a hotel room in Orlando. He had performed a two-hour stand-up set the previous evening in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Mr. Saget is perhaps best known for his role as Danny Tanner from the sitcom Full House. He played the widowed father—co-parenting his three girls with his brother and his best friend—from 1987–1995.

Before there was a YouTube or TikTok, there was America’s Funniest Home Videos. Mr. Saget was the first host of the television series, featuring viewer submitted videos, beginning in 1989. Other television credits include the narrator on the long-running sitcom How I Met Your Mother and the reprisal of his role as Danny Tanner for the re-boot Netflix series Fuller House.

In contrast to his clean-cut television personality, the comedian was well-known on the stand-up circuit for his raunchy and foul-mouthed sets. He began his comedy career in Los Angeles shortly after graduating from Temple University in 1978, where he studied filmmaking.

Mr. Saget twice appeared on Broadway, both in replacement roles. He made his debut in 2007 as The Man in the Chair in the musical The Drowsy Chaperone, and returned in 2015 as Pastor Greg in Hand to God. He made his Off-Broadway debut in 2005 at Second Stage Theatre in Paul Weitz's Privilege.

Mr. Saget was born May 17, 1956, in Philadelphia. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Rizzo, and three daughters from a previous marriage, Aubrey Saget, Lara Melanie Saget, and Jennifer Belle Saget.
