International News Alex Edelman's Just For Us to Transfer to Menier Chocolate Factory

The Off-West End theatre has announced its 2022-2023 season.

Off-West End theatre Menier Chocolate Factory has announced its 2022-2023 season, which will launch with the world premiere of a new play by Terry Johnson November 4, followed by the transfer of Alex Edelman's Just For Us, and the U.K. premiere of Jordan Harrison's Marjorie Prime.

Johnson, whose work The Graduate played Broadway and the West End, will direct his new play The Sex Party with a run set for November 4–January 7, 2023 and opening night November 15. The creative team will feature designer Tim Shortall, lighting designer Ben Ormerod, and sound designer John Leonard. The world premiere follows four couples in suburban London for wine, cheese, and other pleasures.

Following multiple sold-out and extended Off-Broadway runs, Edelman will take his solo show Just For Us across the ocean January 11–February 26, 2023. Press night for the Adam Brace-directed work will be held January 18. The Drama Desk-nominated show features personal tales of Edelman's Olympic athlete brother AJ, having an unconventional holiday season, and Edelman's personal experiences with anti-Semitism; the stand-up comedian goes into his decision to crash a New York City gathering of White Nationalists incognito, and the aftermath of that encounter.

The season will finish with the U.K. premiere of Jordan Harrison’s Pulitzer Prize finalist Marjorie Prime. Dominic Dromgoole will direct the Rachel Edwards Productions co-production March 9–May 6, 2023. Press night will be held March 15. Marjorie Prime explores human identity, technology, and the limits of both through the story of 85-year-old Marjorie whose given a new technological companion to remind her of her own story and memories.

Marjorie Prime originally debuted at Los Angeles' Mark Taper Forum/Center Theater Group in September 2014, followed by a New York premiere engagement at Off-Broadway's Playwrights Horizons.
