Additional casting has been announced for a studio cast album of a new musical adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women, which will also receive a semi-staged concert in London's West End in 2025 as previously reported. The album, with a release date to be announced, is via Center Stage Records.
Newly announced cast members include Tony winner Laura Benanti as Marmee March and Olivier nominee Julian Ovenden as Father March. They join the previously reported Christine Allado (Hamilton) as Jo March, Chris Mann (The Phantom of the Opera) as Professor Bhaer, and Sophie Pollono (Young and the Restless) as Amy March, backed by a 29-piece orchestra. Produced by Grammy nominee and Emmy winner Nigel Wright, the album will be recorded in January at London’s Abbey Road Studios.
Jo—The Little Women Musical, with music by Dan Redfeld and a book and lyrics by Christina Harding and John Gabriel Koladziej, follows the adventures of the March sisters’ odyssey into adulthood.
JoAnn M. Hunter is set to direct the musical's concert performance. The creative team also includes lead producer Brian Purcell with general management by CDM Productions. 4 Times Entertainment, Inc. produces.
A different version of the famed Alcott novel, with a book by Allan Knee, music by Jason Howland, and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, played Broadway in 2005, earning a Tony Award nomination for Sutton Foster's leading performance as Jo.
