Anthony Ramos is climbing up the Hollywood ladder. The Hamilton and In the Heights star will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut in the upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart according to a report by Deadline.
Created by Eisner Award–winning writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato, Ironheart, also known as Riri Williams, is a young genius who puts her smarts towards creating a suit of armor, similar to Tony Stark's Iron Man suits. In the comics, Stark takes her under his wing and supports her drive to be a superhero. (Side note: The Eisner Awards are the Tony Awards of the comic book community).
Dominique Thorne has been cast in the Disney+ series as the title character and is expected to make her first appearance in the Black Panther sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, slated to premiere November 11. Snowpiercer writer Chinaka Hodge will pen the show's six episodes.
It has been reported that Ramos will star in Ironheart as a pivotal character, and he is expected to appear in future MCU projects beyond the series. Little is known about his role and the rest of the Ironheart cast. Fans have speculated that he'll join the series as Sunspot, most commonly associated with the X-Men; Sam Alexander, introduced through the Guardians of the Galaxy crew; or Iron Lad, a member of the Young Avengers—a team of superheroes that Marvel Studios has already begun to introduce.
Ramos has been making his way from stage to screen for the past few years, with his breakthrough performance as Ramon in the A Star Is Born remake alongside Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. He went on to lead the movie adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda's In The Heights, playing Usnavi de la Vega. Along with Ironheart, he has been cast to lead the next installment in the Transformers franchise.
