Concord Theatricals has acquired worldwide licensing rights to Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill, the Tony-nominated musical inspired by and featuring the songs from Morissette's 1995 landmark album of the same name. The work, currently touring North America, features a Tony-winning book by Diablo Cody and a score by Morissette and Glen Ballard, with arrangements by Pulitzer winner Tom Kitt.

"We are excited that Concord Theatricals is taking Jagged Little Pill to so many stages!," says Ballard in a statement. "We are passionate about the messages and music in this show, and it’s gratifying to have it brought to an even larger audience. It’s wonderful to widen the circle of this show, and Concord knows how to do it!”

“I am thrilled that Jagged Little Pill is being licensed by Concord Theatricals!” adds Cody. “We are in legendary company, and I have fantasized about this moment since our show’s debut. I am very grateful that our show can live on through Concord.”

The musical centers on a seemingly perfect suburban family forced to choose between keeping up appearances or facing some hard truths. Following a world premiere at Massachusetts' American Repertory Theater, the work opened on Broadway in 2019 with Diane Paulus at the helm and Concord among the show's producers. While sidelined during the Broadway shutdown, the production was nominated for 15 2020 Tony Awards, winning Best Book of a Musical for Cody and Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for Lauren Patten. The production reopened following the shutdown and ultimately played its final performance December 17, 2021.

“We’re delighted to continue our cherished long-term relationship with Glen, Tom Kitt, and this extraordinary title,” says Concord Chief Theatricals Executive Sean Patrick Flahaven. “As early co-producing partners, we knew Jagged would resonate with audiences worldwide, and it is an honor to welcome Alanis and Diablo to Concord Theatricals’ catalogue.”
