Multiple Drama Desk Award nominee Julie Halston will host the seventh annual Broadway Belts for PFF! February 27 at the Edison Ballroom, 240 W. 47th St., in New York City. The event was founded in 2010 in honor of theatre critic for the Associated Press, Michael Kuchwara, who died unexpectedly of pulmonary fibrosis that year.
Performers will include Stephanie Mills (The Wiz), Orfeh (Legally Blonde), Lucas Steele (Natasha), Mandy Gonzalez (Hamilton), Mario Cantone (The View), Robert Creighton (Cagney), Randy Graff (City of Angels), James Snyder (In Transit), T. Oliver Reid (Sister Act), and NBC’s Gus Rosendale, who will join Stephanie J. Block (Falsettos).
Performers will sing some of their favorites songs as tribute to those who died from pulmonary fibrosis. Some of note include Robert Goulet, Marlon Brando, Evil Knievel, Peter Benchley, John Palmer, James Doohan, and numerous First Responders at the World Trade Center on September 11.
Carl Andress (The Divine Sister) will direct, and Christopher McGovern (Cagney) will be musical directors with music supervision by Ed Windels. D. Michael Dvorchak, Sue Frost (Memphis), Halston, and Windels are producing for the seventh year in a row.
