The Latiné Musical Theatre Lab will present 11 readings of new musicals written by Latiné-identifying writers through its first-ever Table Reading Series. The invite-only readings will be presented June 19-September 25.
The organization provides a free space for writers to draft their works with the goal of elevating the work of Latiné creatives and providing resources to promote equal opportunity.
The 11 shows being presented are an untitled show by Michael Mott and Gretchen Suárez-Peña; Quillén, with music by Pablo Concha and book and lyrics by Jamie Buxton; Unsung, with book, music, and lyrics by K. Hernandez Friend and additional music and lyrics by Leigh Cara; Sangre de mi Padre / Lágrimas de mi Madre (Blood of my Father / Tears of my Mother), by David Allen Carrasco with music composition by Rebecca Salinas; Manuel vs. the Statue of Liberty with a book by Noemi de la Puente, music by David Davila, and lyrics by Davila and de la Puente; Lady Alhambra: a play with song and dance by Gabriela Castillo-Miranda; #Masc4Masc: A Totally Masculine Musical with book and lyrics by James Martinez Salem and music by Josh Ben-Ami; Vanishing Girl: A New Musical with a book by Hope VIllanueva, music and lyrics by William Yanesh, and direction by Eric Jordan Young; Ybor City the Musical with book by Anita Gonzalez and music and Lyrics by Dan Furman; Tuesday with music by Brett Macias and words by Caroline Murphy; and The Boys and Nuns with a book and additional lyrics by Sandra Delgado and music and lyrics by Michael McBride.
