Casting is complete for the Ogunquit Playhouse's American premiere of The Da Vinci Code, adapted from Dan Brown's best-selling mystery novel. Directed by Leigh Toney (The Trial of Josie K), based on original direction by Luke Sheppard (& Juliet), performances will begin at the Maine venue August 24 prior to an official opening August 26 for a limited engagement through September 23.

The cast will feature Obie, Drama Desk, and Lortel Award winner Michael Urie (Buyer & Cellar, Ugly Betty) as Professor Robert Langdon, Hannah Cruz (Hamilton, Only Gold) as Sophie Neveu, and Emmy winner Charles Shaughnessy (Spamalot, The Nanny) as Sir Leigh Teabing with Katya Collazo (Mrs. Warren’s Profession), Thursday Farrar (Aida), Howard Kaye (The Visit), Tarik Lowe (Whiplash), Glenn Morizio (On That Day in Amsterdam), David Patterson (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?), Marissa Parness (Richard III), and Jennifer Regan (The Good Nurse). Additional casting will be announced.

Adapted by Rachel Wagstaff (Girl on the Train) and Duncan Abel (Girl on the Train), the production concerns the curator of The Louvre, who has been brutally murdered; alongside his body are a series of baffling codes.

“I find it wonderfully fitting that the U.S. premiere of The Da Vinci Code’s stage play will be here on the Seacoast at the Ogunquit Playhouse,” says novel writer Brown. “Both the novel’s publishing premiere and the Tom Hanks movie premiere were here on the Seacoast, and I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to preserve that tradition for this exciting new production with this exceptionally talented cast."

The upcoming production will also have movement direction by Tom Jackson Greaves, scenic and costume design by David Woodhead, lighting design by Richard Latta (based on original lighting design by Lizzie Powell), music composition by Ben and Max Ringham, projection design by Tony winner Andrzej Goulding, sound design by Kevin Heard, wig design by Roxanne De Luna, casting by Arc Casting's Mark Brandon, projection supervision by Brad Peterson, associate scenic design by Nate Bertone, associate direction by Phoebe Brooks, and associate movement direction by Esosa Oviasu. Daniel Everett is the production stage manager.

This production is presented by arrangement with Simon Friend Entertainment.
