Broadway Cares will celebrate the 40th anniversary of La Cage aux Folles with a special table and auction lots at this year's Broadway Flea Market and Grand Auction, set for October 1 in NYC's theatre district from 10 AM–7 PM.
Each year, the Broadway Flea Market brings theatrical memorabilia from Broadway and Off-Broadway shows as well as treasures from theatre owners and producing organizations, unions, guilds, marketing groups, ticket agencies, concessionaires, and fan clubs to West 44th and West 45th Streets. Opportunities to get an autograph or snap a photo with some of Broadway's most beloved are also on the annual roster.
The La Cage aux Folles items up for bidding at auction lots include the Tony Award for Best Musical presented to producer Fritz Holt, a silver embossed Playbill and invitation from the 1984 Tonys, Holt’s own La Cage original cast recording LP, a La Cage Tiffany & Company crystal cube given to the company on opening night, and an embossed leather La Cage script complete with choreographer’s notes. A quilt handmade by La Cage’s writer, Harvey Fierstein, will also be up for bidding.
The special table will honor and feature original cast members, as well as collectibles and props from the show. Fierstein himself will also be meeting fans at 1 PM at the Autograph Table, returning this year to the deck of Junior’s restaurant on West 45th Street at Shubert Alley.
