Eligibility for the various awards categories is usually determined based on opening-night billing as printed in the show's Playbill. The Administration Committee delivers rulings when producers request eligibility that differs from the show's billing or in situations where the billing makes the categorization more difficult, such as when a production's cast is billed completely in alphabetical order rather than having its leading stars at the top.

The determinations largely affirmed actors who will be eligible in the leading actor and actress categories, including Nichelle Lewis for The WizShaina Taub for Suffs, Maleah Joi Moon for Hell's Kitchen, Rachel McAdams for Mary Jane, and more. See the full list of determinations below.

The Tony Awards, founded by the American Theatre Wing in 1947, are co-presented by the Wing and The Broadway League, along with White Cherry Entertainment. Carnegie Mellon University, City National Bank, Playbill, Rainbow Room, Sofitel New York, and Baccarat are sponsors.

Winners will be named at the 77th Annual Tony Awards, set for June 16 at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater. Stage and screen star Ariana DeBose will be back for the third consecutive year to host the festivities, which will be broadcast worldwide.
