The upcoming National Theatre engagement of Hadestown will begin performances November 2. Reprising their performances from the musical’s previous engagements are Patrick Page (Saint Joan) as Hades, Amber Gray (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) as Persephone, and Reeve Carney (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark) as Orpheus.

Gray and Page originated their roles in the 2016 Off-Broadway premiere at New York Theatre Workshop and continued with the show at the Citadel Theatre in Canada last year, where they were joined by Carney.

New to the company for the London bow are Tony nominees Eva Noblezada (Miss Saigon) and André De Shields (The Full Monty) as Eurydice and Hermes, respectively, with Rosie Fletcher (Wicked), Carly Mercedes Dyer (Dreamgirls), and Gloria Onitiri (Brighton Rock) as the Fates. Rounding out the company are Sharif Afifi, Beth Hinton-Lever, Seyi Omooba, Aiesha Pease, Joseph Prouse, Jordan Shaw, and Shaq Taylor.

Anaïs Mitchell’s folk opera telling of the ancient, underworld-set tale, directed by Rachel Chavkin, will run through January 26, 2019, at the National’s Olivier Theatre. A Broadway transfer is expected to follow; dates and casting to be confirmed at a later time.
