Smith and Wankel are being honored along with financier and Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone, business executives and philanthropists Brooke and Daniel Neidich, Stem Cell Foundation pioneer Susan Solomon and Bard Graduate Center founder Susan Weber at the 22nd Living Landmark Celebration, which was held at The Plaza in Manhattan.
Living Landmark Paul Binder hosted the event; music is provided by Living Landmark Peter Duchin and his Orchestra. Living Landmarks Daryl and Jordan Roth are Honorary Co-Chairs for the evening. Special presenters include Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Bernadette Peters and Joel Grey. Brian Stokes Mitchell will perform.
The New York Landmarks Conservancy, according to press notes, "honors distinguished New Yorkers from all professions as 'Living Landmarks' for their contributions to the City. The Landmarks Conservancy is dedicated to celebrating, preserving and protecting the iconic buildings and diverse neighborhoods that define this vibrant and extraordinary City. The Conservancy is the only private organization that provides both financial and technical support in this effort."
