Off-Broadway News See Who Will Star in Marie Kohler's Boswell at 59E59

The comedic drama about an academic whose latest discovery sets her on a new path begins its limited run Off-Broadway next month.

Casting for the limited run of Boswell by Marie Kohler (The Dig) at Off-Broadway's 59E59 Theaters has been announced. Presented by 59E59 and MHK Productions, the play will begin previews November 12 in Theater C ahead of its November 16 opening night. Laura Gordon (She Stoops to Conquer) will direct the production which is set to play through December 4.

When an ambitious 20th-century academic finds the lost journals of James Boswell, she finds herself enthralled by the subject of her latest discovery. Filled with Boswell's adventures wiith Samuel Johnson across the islands of the Scottish Hebrides, the journals inspire her to live her life a little differently and with more fun in this comedic drama.

Starring will be Phoebe González (Love’s Labour’s Lost), Rebecca Hurd (Relentless), Josh Krause (Rough Crossing), Miriam A. Laube (Bombay Dreams), Brian Mani (The Merry Wives of Windsor), and Triney Sandoval (Bernhardt/Hamlet). Serving as understudies will be Liz Days (13th of Paris), R. Ward Duffy (The Tempest), Emily Fury Daly (The Crossword Play), Ty Fanning (LINDIWE), and Rex Young (The Copper Children).

The creative team will feature scenic designer Jody Sekas, costume designer Misti Bradford, sound designer Josh Schmidt, lighting designer Katy Atwell, dialect coach Eva Breneman, movement coach Maria Gillespie, and props master Jody Sekas. Jane Heer will be stage manager and Brandy Kline will be production manager. Rounding out the team will be Tony Lyons as technical director and Bobby Sharon as assistant stage manager and wardrobe.
