The first national tour of Mean Girls, the musical comedy based on the popular film of the same name, has announced new casting. 

Glee and Wicked star Lindsay Heather Pearce joins the tour as the new Janis Sarkisian and taking over the lead role of Cady Heron will be English Bernhardt, currently serving as the character's standby and in the ensemble. Also joining the cast will be Morgan Ashley Bryant as Karen Smith and Jasmine Rogers as Gretchen Wieners. Adriana Scalice will newly serve as standby for Cady, Regina, and Janis.

New to the ensemble will be Brittany Conigatti, Maya Imani, and Iain Young.

Current tour cast features Nadina Hassan as Regina George, Eric Huffman as Damian Hubbard, Adante Carter as Aaron Samuels, Kabir Bery as Kevin G., April Josephine as Mrs. Heron/Ms. Norbury/Mrs. George. and Lawrence E. Street as Mr. Duvall. The ensemble includes Erica Simone Barnett, DeShawn Bowens, Lamont Brown, Mary Beth Donahoe, Niani Feelings, Sky Flaherty, Samuel Gerber, Dan Horn, Asia Marie Kreitz, Olivia Renteria, Grace Romanello, Sydney Mei Ruf-Wong, Marcus Shane, Kaitlyn Louise Smith, and David Wright Jr.

The show follows Cady Heron as she navigates the social dynamics of high school cliques and the personal cost it can have after moving to suburban Illinois from Africa with her researcher parents. It features a book by Emmy winner Tina Fey, based on her screenplay for the film, music by Emmy winner Jeff Richmond; and lyrics by Tony nominee Nell Benjamin. Tony winner Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs. 

Mean Girls opened on Broadway in 2018, but the production did not return after the pandemic shutdown. Instead, the North American Tour, which began in September, 2019, resumed performances in November, 2021 after its suspension due to the pandemic. The musical is in the works to appear on the West End stage as well as the silver screen as plans with Paramount Pictures for a film adaptation are discussed. 

The creative team includes set designer Scott Pask, costume designer Gregg Barnes, lighting designer Kenneth Posner, sound designer Brian Ronan, video designers Finn Ross and Adam Young, hair designer Josh Marquette, make-up designer Milagros Medina-Cerdeira, music supervisor Mary-Mitchell Campbell, music director Benedict Braxton-Smith, and music coordinator Howard JoinesJohn Clancy provides orchestrations, Glen Kelly provides dance and incidental music arrangements, and voice arrangements are by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, Jeff Richmond, and Natalie Tenenbaum. Casting is by The Telsey Office / Bethany Knox.
