The U.S. premiere of director Emma Rice's adaptation of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights begins at St. Ann's Warehouse October 14. Following the Off-Broadway run through November 6, the show will continue with a national tour.
Starring in the New York run are Lucy McCormick as Catherine, Liam Tamne as Heathcliff, TJ Holmes as Dr Kenneth, Jordan Laviniere as Zillah, Lloyd Gorman as Mr Earnshaw/Robert, Tama Phethean as Hindley Earnshaw/Hareton Earnshaw, Eleanor Sutton as Frances Earnshaw/Young Cathy, Sam Archer as Lockwood/Edgar Linton, Nandi Bhebhe as The Yorkshire Moor, Katy Ellis as swing, and Katy Owen as Isabella Linton/Linton Heathcliff. Archer, Bhebhe, Ellis, and Owen have all starred in previous productions.
Steph Elstob serves as understudy, and music is performed by Sid Goldsmith, Pat Moran, and Jeevan Singh.
The tale follows the Earnshaws who rescue Heathcliff from the Liverpool docks and adopt him. They take Heathcliff to live at Wuthering Heights where he finds a kindred spirit in their daughter, Catherine—love ignites, but when the two are forced apart, a brutal chain of events is unleashed.
Rice helms the creative team which includes set and costume designer Vicki Mortimer, sound and video designer Simon Baker, composer Ian Ross, and lighting designerJai Morjaria. Movement and choreography is by Etta Murfitt.
Wuthering Heights is presented by St. Ann's Warehouse, Wise Children, and the National Theatre in association with Bristol Old Vic, York Theatre Royal, and Berkeley Repertory Theater. Following St. Ann's, Wuthering Heights will have runs at Berkeley Repertory Theater, the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, and Chicago Shakespeare Theater, with further stops to be announced.
