A new digital series written, directed, and created by one in two playwright Donja R. Love, i need space, will make its world premiere on streaming platform Broadstream beginning March 8.
Starring Ja'mel Ashely, Dane Figueroa Edidi, Cedric Leiba, Jr., Christopher Livingston, and Justin Weaks, the series follows Marcus, a man isolated in his childhood bedroom and losing touch with his loved ones and his struggle to find a way forward. i need space is told through a collection of video messages.
Alscott Worrell serves as director of photography and editor on the creative team, which also includes production designer Stephanie Echevarria, costume designer Qween Jean, illustrator C.J. Robinson, animator Sean Walsh, intimacy director Dave Anzuelo, and first assistant director Tatiana Montes. Casting is by X Casting and Victor Vazquez. Monet is the line producer.
Black, Queer, HIV-Positive playwright Donja R. Love's work has been produced at MCC and Atlantic Theater Company, in addition to his play soft at Manhattan Theatre Club, which received Lucille Lortel and Outer Critics nominations.
The series is presented by The New Group Off Stage in association with John Ridley's NŌ Studios and Frank Marshall. Broadstream is a recently-launched streaming platform for arts and arts-adjacent content.
