Charles White's Unentitled holds a preview performance July 21 prior to its July 22 opening night in Theater B at 59E59 Theaters. Produced by The Negro Ensemble Co., Inc., the production is set to play through August 6.
Set in late 2008 as Barack Obama makes the final push in his first presidential campaign, Unentitled follows an upper-middle class African-American family that must contend with internalized racism and class anxiety. As tempers flare while at the family's Long Island vacation home, questions rise about what risks are worth betting history, tradition, and family on.
The cast stars C. Kelly Wright (Jazz), Justine Hall (The White Blacks), Adrain Washington (Pride Fighter), Ron Scott (Wu-Tang: An American Saga), and Gil Tucker (Cop Shop).
Director Florante Galvez helms the creative team featuring set designer Kristin Chang, costume designer Omar Sam a’ey, lighting designer Melody Beal, and sound designer Liam Riordan. AJ Muhammad serves as dramaturg, with Fulton Hodges as technical director, and props by Marlon Campbell.
