Making its world premiere at Atlantic Theater Company, Elyria has found its cast. The new work by Deepa Purohit (in her Off-Broadway playwriting debut) will begin previews February 9 for a limited run through March 19. The work will open February 27 at the Linda Gross Theater.
It's 1982 in Elyria, Ohio. Two decades after striking a deal, two women crash into each other and must face their past—and their entwined future.
Starring in the production will be Nilanjana Bose (Tamburlaine the Great), Sanjit De Silva (War Horse), Gulshan Mia (Acquittal), and Bhavesh Patel (The Nap). Making their Off-Broadway debuts will be Sanskar Agarwal, Mohit Gautam, Mahima Saigal, Khyati Sehgal, and Omar Shafiuzzaman.
Awoye Timpo (Wedding Band, The Homecoming Queen) will direct the production which will feature choreography by Parijat Desai, scenic design by Jason Ardizzone-West, costume design by Sarita Fellows, lighting design by Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew, sound design by Amatus Karim Ali, and projections by Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew. Casting is by The Telsey Office, Will Cantler, Karyn Casl, and Destiny Lily. Kat Meister will serve as production stage manager.
