Off-Broadway News Karen Hartman's New Golden Age to Make World Premiere, Goldie, Max & Milk Announced for 59E59's Volt Festival

The inaugural festival presenting three works by one writer has also announced the casts and creative teams for the plays.

59E59 has announced the casts and creative teams that will bring New Golden Age and Goldie, Max & Milk by Karen Hartman to the stage for its Inaugural Volt Festival. The new festival will focus on one writer a season through the presentation of three New York City-premiering works.

Making its world premiere with previews beginning April 28, New Golden Age will star Carmen Castillo, Ricardy Fabre, Doug Harris, Mahira Kakkar, and Claire Siebers. The play about two sisters fighting for human connection in a near-future tech dystopia will officially open May 11 in Theater B with a run set through June 9. Presented by 59E59's Resident Off-Broadway Theater Company Primary Stages, Jade King Carroll will direct the production.

New Golden Age will feature scenic design by Lee Savage, costume design by Jennifer Caprio, wig and makeup design by Jared Janas, lighting design by Anshuman Bhatia, and sound design by Fan Zhang. Also serving on the creative team will be Carrie Mossman as props coordinator, Denise Cardarelli as production stage manager, and Olivia Tymon as assistant stage manager.

Running simultaneously, Goldie, Max & Milk will feature Blair BakerLauren Molina, Timiki Salinas, Shayna Nicole Small, and Beatrice Ethel Tulchin. Serving as understudies will be Victoria Huston-Elem and Nick Piacente. The comedy about single lesbian and new mom Max and her Orthodox Jewish lactation consultant explores themes of motherhood and family. Previews begin May 1 in Theater C for the show which will open May 8 and run through June 4.

Goldie, Max & Milk will include scenic design by Junghyun Georgia Lee, costume design by Lee & Ilana Breitman, lighting design by Kate McGee, sound design by Sun Hee Kil, and props design by Nick Campano. Caroline Ragland will serve as production stage manager with Julie Gottfried as assistant stage manager. 

Casting for both shows is by Stephanie Klapper Casting.

Steven Skybell, Alexandra Silber, and Dale Soules

The festival previously announced the Directors Company's production of The Lucky Star featuring Steven Skybell, Alexandra Silber, Dale Soules, and more. The play begins previews in Theater A April 26 with opening night set for May 5 and a run through June 12.
