Off-Broadway's MCC Theater has added an additional week to the world premiere run of Donja R. Love's soft. The show will now run through July 17 in the Susan & Ronald Frankel Theater at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space, following its previous two-week extension through July 10. The Off-Broadway production was originally set to run through June 19 but had to reschedule opening night and performances due to breakthrough COVID-19 cases in the company back in May.
Directed by Whitney White, the work follows Mr. Isaiah, a correctional boarding school teacher, and his response to losing a student by suicide. The cast features Leon Addison Brown as Mr. Cartwright, Biko Eisen-Martin as Mr. Isaiah, Dharon Jones as Antoine, Essence Lotus as Dee, Travis Raeburn as Bashir, Shakur Tolliver as Kevin, Dario Vazquez as Jamal, and Ed Ventura as Eddie. The play features scenic design by Adam Rigg, costume design by Qween Jean, lighting design by Cha See, sound design by Germán Martínez, original music by Mauricio Escamilla, and fight direction by UnkleDave’s Fight-House. The prop supervisor is Andrew Diaz and the production stage manager is Rachel Denise April.
