Off-Broadway News MCC Theater Extends Run of Donja R. Love's Soft

The world premiere play will now run through July 10 Off-Broadway.

Donja R. Love's soft has received a two-week extension for its current Off-Broadway run at the Susan & Ronald Frankel Theater at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space. The show will now play through July 10, having begun previews May 12 and opened June 9. Read reviews for the production here.

Soft follows a correctional boarding school teacher, Mr. Isaiah, and his response to one of his students dying by suicide. Starring in the cast are Leon Addison Brown as Mr. Cartwright, Biko Eisen-Martin as Mr. Isaiah, Dharon E. Jones as Antoine, Essence Lotus as Dee, Travis Raeburn as Bashir, Shakur Tolliver as Kevin, Dario Vazquez as Jamal, and Ed Ventura as Eddie.

Due to COVID-19 related delays, the show had previously received a one-week extension as a result of cancellations. The run will host a Black and Brown Theater Night June 17. 

Whitney White directs the play, which features scenic design by 2022 Tony-nominee Adam Rigg, costume design by Qween Jean, lighting design by Cha See, sound design by Germán Martínez, original music by Mauricio Escamilla, and fight direction by UnkleDave’s Fight-House. The props supervisor is Andrew Diaz and the production stage manager is Rachel Denise April.

The work was developed at Williamstown Theatre Festival.
