The new musical from Nico Juber made recently finished a developmental run Off-Broadway starring Kristolyn Lloyd.

Nico Juber's Millennials Are Killing Musicals, which recently completed a developmental run Off-Broadway with Grammy and Emmy winner Kristolyn Lloyd (1776, Dear Evan Hansen) leading the company, will receive an original cast album. Recording for the album begins this week for its fall release on Yellow Sound Label.

Featuring 15 songs from the show, the album will tell the story of Brenda, a single and struggling millennial mom who wants to be as good at "adulting" as other moms on social media and the seemingly perfect mom of her daughter's classmate. Just when she's ready to take on the challenge, Brenda's younger sister and social media influencer Katrina shows up on her doorstep eight months pregnant.

Joining Lloyd in the studio from the Off-Broadway run are Broadway alums Max Crumm (Grease) as Nate/Atlas, Jakeim Hart (Almost Famous) as Dylan, Tiffany Engen (Legally Blonde) as Jake’s Mom, and Sydni Beaudoin as Pacifica alongside Diana Huey (Honor) as Katrina, Sheri Sanders (Urinetown) as Nana Marie, and Jae W.B. (Luna & The Star Bodies) as Luna. Jessie Alagna (Emojiland) and Kathel Griffin (Here and Their) served as understudies. The band includes Britton Matthews on drums, Andrea Yohe on piano, Benjamin Samuelson on guitar, and Thomas E. Carley on bass.

The Off-Broadway cast recording will be produced by Michael Croiter and Nico Juber. Catherine Gray, Debra Smalley, and Kelly Ann Winget will co-produce.

Ciara Renée (Waitress, Frozendirected the limited engagement, which began May 9 at Church of the Blessed Sacrament's Theatre 71 where it opened May 15 and ran through May 28.

The creative team also featured music supervisor and arranger Ted Arthur (Diana), vocal arranger Devyn Rush, orchestrator Macy Schmidt (Kimberly Akimbo), music director Sheela Ramesh (SIX), lighting designer Jamie Roderick (Midnight at the Never Get), scenic designer Lindsay Fuori (Made By God), sound designer Bill Toles (Rat Trap), projection designer Taylor Edelle Stuart (The Outsiders), costume designer Brynne Oster-Bainnson (Hit the Wall), choreographer Sarah Parker (Camelot), gender consultant Shira Helena Gitlin, and EDI consultant Tiffany Vega-Gibson.

Millennials Are Killing Musicals has been in development since 2018, and was an O’Neill NMTC Semifinalist in 2021 and 2022. The work previously received a New York City industry reading, a songs showcase through New York Theatre Barn's New Works Series, and sold-out concert presentations. Juber is a Drama League-songwriting contest and NAMT Challenge winner.

Out of the Box Theatrics served as producer with New York Theatre Barn as associate producer of the Off-Broadway production. Aaron Grant Theatrical was consulting general manager.
