Opening March 30, York Theatre Company's Off-Broadway production of Vanities—The Musical plays a limited engagement at The Theatre at St. Jean's. Presented in association with Riki Kane Larimer, the Off-Broadway production began previews March 21 and will play through April 22.

Starring as the show's trio are Jade Jones (Olney Theatre Center's Beauty and The Beast) in their New York stage debut as Mary and Broadway alums Amy Keum (KPOP) and Hayley Podschun (Hello, Dolly!) as Kathy and Joanne, respectively. The three women push the boundaries of who they thought they were and what society tells them about being women. Beginning in their adolescence, the work follows Joanne, Kathy, and Mary into adulthood. Olivia Kaufmann (Mean Girls) serves as standby.

Featuring a book by Jack Heifner and music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum, Vanities—The Musical is based on the play by Jack Heifner.

Director Will Pomerantz helms the production, which features music direction by Deborah Abramson and choreography by Shannon Lewis. They are joined on the creative team by scenic designer and York Theatre Company Producing Artistic Director James Morgan, costume designer Barbara Erin Delo, lighting designer Mike Billings, and sound designer Julian Evans. Casting is by Rachel Hoffman/The Telsey Office. General management and production management are by Aaron Simms.

"I’ve had my eye on Vanities for The York since it was announced as a musical, and we believe it resonates even more powerfully today, in these times when women’s rights are under attack,” said Morgan in an earlier statement.

The show is also participating in the 20at20 promotion from The Off Broadway Alliance, which offers $20 tickets for participating Off-Broadway plays and musicals 20 minutes before curtain time.

The work made its New York City premiere at Second Stage, and was subsequently revised by Heifner and Kirshenbaum for a staging by 5th Avenue Theatre and ACT in Seattle. The revised version made its London premiere at Trafalgar Studios.
