Bedlam has found the casts for the upcoming world premieres of Zuzanna Szadkowski and Deborah Knox’s Fall River Fishing and Talene Monahon’s The Good John Proctor at Off-Broadway's Connelly Theater.
Beginning February 17, Fall River Fishing will play through March 9 with opening night set for February 26. Eric Tucker will direct the work's playwrights Szadkowski and Knox in the cast alongside Susannah Millonzi, Tony Torn, and Jamie Smithson. The absurd comedy imagines what happened the day Lizzie Borden did (or didn't) murder her parents with an axe in 1892 Massachusetts. The production will feature lighting design by Les Dickert, set design by Cate McCrea, properties design by Buffy Cardoza, and costume design by Charlotte Palmer-Lane. Diane Healy will serve as stage manager with Lacey Jo Stoat assisting.
Following with previews starting March 11, The Good John Proctor will open March 19 for a runt through April 1. The Good John Proctor takes a new look at adolescence and the lives of girls at the center of the 1692 Salem Witch Trials in the lead up to the event. Tavi Gevinson, Brittany K. Allen, Sharlene Cruz, and Susannah Perkins will star as Abigail Warren, Betty Parris, Mercy Lewis, and Mary Warren. Gevinson previously starred in the 2016 Broadway revival of Arthur Miller's The Crucible about the same event as Mary Warren.
Serving on the creative team will be lighting designer Isabella Byrd with McCrea and Cardoza returning as set and properties designers, respectively. Esti Bernstein will be stage manager with Kelly Merritt assisting
Ticket initiatives to both productions include free and reduced-price tickets for underserved communities and educational programs, "Pay What You Can” performances on February 19 and March 12, and $10 rush tickets available to all students, veterans, and current service members.
